Ellen White was fond of sharing this photograph with friends. Notice the dark velvet border on the overgarment, and the watch cord suspended from her chest. In 1878 she was completing the third volume of Spirit of Prophecy, which portrayed the last days of Christ's ministry and the beginning of the Christian church.
