Ellen White
gave this message originally as a speech to a group of about two
hundred people who were enjoying a day of picnicking and recreation
at Lake Goguac, near Battle Creek, Michigan in May of 1870. It was
later published in The
Adventist Home, p. 496, from where this is adapted. |
| I believe that
while we are seeking to refresh our spirits and invigorate our bodies,
we are required of God to use all our powers at all times to the
best purpose. We may associate together as we are doing here today,
and do all to the glory of God. We can and should conduct our recreations
in such a manner that we shall be better able to return to our work
or studies with fresh energy. Let’s be cheerful today, and
return home refreshed in body and mind, so that we can influence
others in a positive way to greater hope and greater courage. |
