Entertainment
is what you do in your down-time. Great entertainment should
build you up mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually.
Great entertainment will have a good outcome: You’ll
feel stronger in your relationship with Jesus, you’ll
feel better about yourself, and you’ll feel energized
and cheerful (Galatians 5:22-23).
Outcomes for negative entertainment might include feeling
like you’ve just wasted a bunch of time, less interest
in reading your Bible and praying, and even flabby muscles
and a tired brain. Negative entertainment might also earn
you The Family Grump award (Galatians
5:24-25)!

Everyone
needs time and space to relax and unwind.

You!
And of course, Jesus—and don’t forget your
angel. You don’t ever want to leave Him behind (Signs
of the Times, February 23, 1882 par. 9; Testimonies
for the Church, vol. 3, p. 41.)

Great
entertainment never gets in the way of personal devotions,
acts of service (think chores!), adequate study time, and
sleep. Great entertainment is all about balance. Playing
ball, for instance, is a whole lot more fun if you’re
not thinking in the back of your mind, “I should be
studying for tomorrow’s test” or “Dad’s
going to be really disappointed that I didn’t mow
the lawn.”

Anywhere
you can invite Jesus to go with you, listen with you, watch
with you, play with you, be with you! Examples: Hiking in
God’s fabulous creation, going with your friends to
cheer up a shut-in, having a picnic and playing beach volley
ball with family and friends.
