Ellen's Top 8 Health Tips

Trust in Divine Power
The Saviour of the world loves to have children and youth give their hearts to Him. There may be a large army of children who shall be found faithful to God, because they walk in the light as Christ is in the light. They will love the Lord Jesus, and it will be their delight to please Him. . . .Through childhood and youth they will be found faithful disciples of our Lord.  Adventist Home, p. 297

Nutrition
Grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables constitute the diet chosen for us by our Creator.  Ministry of Healing, p. 295, 296

Sunlight
Children should be permitted to run and play out of doors, enjoying the fresh, pure air, and the life-giving sunshine. Fundamentals of Christian Education, p. 60

Fresh Air
In order for children and youth to have health, cheerfulness, vivacity, and well-developed muscles and brains, they should be much in the open air and have well-regulated employment and amusement. Child Guidance, p. 339

Water
If anything is needed to quench the thirst, pure water is all that nature requires.  Counsels on Health, p. 120

Rest
The importance of regularity in the time for eating and sleeping should not be overlooked. Since the work of building up the body takes place during the hours of rest, it is essential, especially in youth, that sleep should be regular and abundant.  Child Guidance, p. 363.

Temperance
We are not to indulge in any habit that will weaken physical or mental strength, or abuse our powers in any way. We are to do all in our power to keep ourselves in health, in order that we may have sweetness of disposition, a clear mind, and be able to distinguish between the sacred and the common, and honor God in our bodies and in our spirits, which are His.  Child Guidance, p. 364

Exercise
Children and youth who are kept at school, and confined to books, cannot have sound physical constitutions. The exercise of the brain in study, without corresponding physical exercise, has a tendency to attract the blood to the brain, and the circulation of the blood through the system becomes unbalanced.  Christian Education, p. 9
